Ski crossing from Zermatt to Arolla
Experience an impressive ski traverse through the high alpine world of the Valais four-thousand-metre peaks.
To the dates and registration
This four-day ski traverse takes us through one of the most spectacular ski touring areas in the Alps. The starting point is Zermatt, surrounded by legendary peaks such as the Matterhorn, Dent Blanche and Weisshorn. We make our tracks across wide glaciers, cross impressive passes and experience a varied combination of enjoyable descents and exciting ascents. We spend the night in cosy, serviced huts such as the Schönbielhütte and the Cabane des Vignettes, where we round off the day with fine food and a convivial atmosphere. On the last day, a long, impressive final descent to Arolla awaits - the perfect end to this unique crossing. A tour for all those who are looking for a classic ski tour experience and at the same time want to enjoy the high alpine flair of the Valais mountains to the full.
We meet at the railway station in Zermatt, where your mountain guide will give you a warm welcome. Together we will walk through the village to the valley station of the Schwarzsee cable car, discuss the day's itinerary and then set off on our adventure.
The cable car takes us to Schwarzsee station in a short time. From here we set off on a marvellous descent, always with the Matterhorn in view, down to the Zmutt Glacier. From there, we make a leisurely ascent until we finally reach the Schönbielhütte. Our first stage destination and overnight stop. Here we round off the day with fine food and a convivial atmosphere.
A real highlight awaits us today: the ascent and crossing of the famous Tête Blanche. Surrounded by the mighty peaks of the Valais Alps, we climb steadily higher until we reach the glacier pass and can enjoy an impressive panorama. Once at the top, we prepare for the final, long descent. We make our way down to Arolla through impressive glacier and alpine touring terrain. Once there, we bring the tour to a cosy close and spend the night in a local hotel.
In the morning, a ski lift makes the first part of the ascent easier. We then climb steadily higher at a leisurely pace over the Glacier de Pièces, enjoying the view of the surrounding peaks and glacier landscapes. Our destination is the Cabane des Vignettes, one of the most famous huts in the region and a classic stage stop on the Haute Route. Once there, we fortify ourselves with a delicious dinner and prepare for the final, long stage the next day.
Early in the morning, we set off on the last stage of our crossing. In the first light of the day, we climb steadily higher and finally reach the summit of the Pigne d'Arolla. An impressive finale with breathtaking views of the surrounding four-thousand-metre peaks. After a well-earned rest at the summit, we enjoy the long descent over the Pas de Chèvres, where some short, exciting passages await us. Afterwards, we glide through marvellous terrain down into the valley to Arolla. Our four-day ski traverse ends there, filled with great experiences, new impressions and lasting moments in the heart of the Valais Alps.
We say goodbye to each other in Arolla and travel back home individually with many new impressions.
